Jack Smith is a partner and the head of the gas and energy practice.
He is a leading expert in the fields of energy, natural resources, and infrastructure, with extensive experience advising and supporting major corporations in complex transactions and strategic projects.
Throughout his career, Jack has been involved in some of the most significant transactions in the energy sector. He led the negotiations for the acquisition of a stake in the Tamar gas field by Capricorn Energy for approximately $1 billion and also led the negotiations for Woodside Petroleum’s $2.25 billion acquisition of a stake in the Leviathan gas field. Additionally, he represented an Israeli consortium in a $5 billion natural gas supply deal—the largest private transaction in Israel’s energy sector. In 2023, he also provided legal counsel to the international energy company Total.
Jack’s extensive experience includes advising on the development of large-scale power plants and being one of the pioneers in representing private electricity producers in energy sales to the private market in Israel. He also specializes in representing clients in offshore lease agreements, complex negotiations in oil and gas transactions, financing agreements for national infrastructure projects, and advising on large-scale international ventures, including in the Gulf of Mexico and Europe.
Recognized as an expert in regulatory matters related to the energy sector, Jack provides strategic and legal counsel on complex commercial agreements and innovative business models.
He earned his law degree from Bar-Ilan University and has since built a reputation as one of the leading lawyers in his field, specializing in complex transactions in energy, natural resources, and infrastructure.
